RnB's DIY cable tutorial continued

Cut a small piece of 12mm adhesive heat shrink and shrink them on the lower ends of the the leads to keep the techflex in its position. It is important that you maintain even lengths at all times. Make sure both lead sleeved lengths are identical to each other. Once again be careful with the heat gun, the techflex is easily prone to melting.

Next cut 3" length of 3/8" wire loom, and 4.25" length(roughly) of 1" black heat shrink, make sure to cut them straight or they will turn out ugly. Then sleeve the wire loom with the black heat shrink, leaving one side of heat shrink longer then the other. Then slide the sleeved loom over the conductors past the base of the leads, longer side in first.

Cut a 3" length of 19mm adhesive heat shrink, slide it over the base of the leads, where it splits and shrink it, then slide up the loom over the base and shrink it. Be careful, the loom will melt if you hold the heat gun in one place too long, so use heat sparingly and evenly over the entire area.

Next, strip the ends of the leads and twist the copper strands, trim off just enough so that the banana plugs will fit. Make sure both copper leads are the same length otherwise it will result in uneven lengths of termination. Attach the plugs.

Next cut two pieces of roughly 2.25" 12mm adhesive heat shrink and shrink them over both leads/terminations, very very very very carefully. Use heat sparingly and do not hold the gun in the same spot over 2 seconds. I usually heat quickly then cool, heat quickly then cool. Until the heat shrink is fully shrunk around the leads/terminations. Warning: the barrels will melt if you heat them too hot. Be very careful. If done right, the only thing that melts is the adhesive lining in the heat shrink.

Congratulations, you have just made yourself some exotic boutique cables. Below are some pictures of my custom cables.
